Hey y'all! I've been at Blackman Middle since 2022! Before joining BMS, I worked at Blackman Elementary for 9 years. I earned my Bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2011 and my Master's degree in 2013. While I'm originally from the Chicago suburbs, warm is my happy place so I've really enjoyed living in TN! I love working with children and empowering them to overcome challenges. When I'm not at school, you can either find me exploring the outdoors or with my nose in a book- I love to read!

Here is a little about me! I've been at Blackman Middle School since 2017. For 2 years before I came to Blackman, I worked at the elementary level here in Rutherford County. I am originally from Northern Illinois. I was previously a therapist working with children involved in the DCS system. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Loras College in Dubuque, IA and my Master's degree from National-Louis University in Elgin, IL. I love working with children. When I am not working you can usually find me doing something outside. I love being out in the woods preferably hiking an insane amount of miles and exploring.
Mrs. Stefanie Prater
(S-Z) Counselor
Hello! I have been one of the counselors here at Blackman Middle School since the doors opened in 2002. Prior to that I spent time just down the road as the counselor at Stewartsboro Elementary. However, I got my start in education as a high school math teacher. I received both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from MTSU. I am originally from a small town in West Tennessee, but have been in Murfreesboro for many years. I have loved being a part of the Blackman Community over the years, and am glad to get to know so many students and families. I live nearby with my husband and daughter, and when I am not at school you can find me reading and spending time with my family.

Hi! I have been with BMS since the Fall of 2013. I do a variety of things as the counseling secretary, but my favorite is meeting our new students and parents and showing the students around campus. I remember moving to a new middle school in 6th grade, and I love making our new students feel as welcome as possible. I enjoy spending time with my two sons and seeing current and former students around town (especially when they start driving!).
