April 6th-April 9th
I miss seeing everyone in class! I hope that you are safe, healthy, and appreciating some quality time at home with your families. Each week I will post resources that will help build your background knowledge and/or check your comprehension of each optional text that your ELA teacher has posted as well as provide you with some links to some interactive tools that you can use to achieve the optional comprehension tasks set forth each day.
The best thing that you can do while you are at home is to read. Flexing that reading muscle will only make it stronger, and you want to keep improving! Parents, in addition to reading each day, students are encouraged to work on their individualized I-Ready Reading learning paths that have prescribed lessons based on each student's deficits. This can be accessed from the school's main web page through Clever and is entitled "my path" once they are on the I-Ready Reading platform. I-Ready Reading research suggests that 45 minutes a week can increase a student's reading achievement, and we use this program in class. Most lessons are 20 minutes in length, and they provide real time feedback to students as they are engaged in the content.
If students are interested in reading about some current events and high interest articles, they can access the current issue of the Scholastic Action magazine that we use in class by visiting https://action.scholastic.com
and entering our classroom password of "rtireading2" to gain access.
I will be available through e-mail during this time as always at email@example.com
, and please reach out if I can help you in any way!
