Welcome to 7A ELA:
Hello! Welcome to the most unique school year I have ever experienced!
We will have several changes this year in ELA:
- We are moving from a split curriculum of ELA and ELab to a combined ELA curriculum.
- We have adopted a new textbook and curriculum called Amplify.
- We are moving from 55 minute class periods to 90 minute periods for ELA and Math.
- Some of you will be learning in the classroom with me every day and some of you will be distance learners.
Here are some of the things that are consistent:
- Our TN state standards for 7th grade ELA remain the same.
- The TN state writing rubrics for Narrative, Informational and Argumentative writing remain the same.
- Teaching 7th grade is the best job!
I suggest that as this school year begins, both parent and student should subscribe to this page. It will be our back up for both classroom and distance learners. Everything I post on Kiddom, I will also post here unless I tell you otherwise. Please familiarize yourself with the tabs in the column on the right side of this page. It will get you quickly to pages that you may need. If you have any questions, please contact me by email [email protected]. I will answer emails as quickly as possible, but if you are a distance learner, please realize that I will not always have time to respond immediately during the school day.
We have some great new readings and plans for this year and I truly can't wait to get started. It's going to be a great year!
