Q: How will we deliver instruction for those who are quarantined because of contact tracing or because they have received a positive diagnosis?
A: Students who are COVID-positive or who are unable to attend school due to contact tracing will receive access to instructional materials from their normal teachers in an asynchronous manner. This will align with the same type of procedure that is followed when a student has an extended absence for other reasons (surgery, illness, vacation, etc.).
Each teacher at BMS will post updates to their teacher webpage with the asynchronous assignments for each week. These will be posted by midnight on Sundays. You can access teacher webpages by visiting blm.rcschools.net and clicking on “Directory” from the homepage or by using the link above titled "Teacher Webpages"
From each teacher’s website, you will be able to access the weekly agenda for their class. This will include an overview for each day.
Q: Where do students go to work on assignments who have been quarantined because of contact tracing or because they have received a positive diagnosis?
A: For simplicity, BMS teachers have the information you will need posted in Schoology. Directions for accessing Schoology are below. If a teacher is using a platform other than Schoology for asynchronous assignments, links and/or directions for accessing assignments will be posted on the teacher’s Schoology page.
Q: What if students need additional support to complete their assignments?
A: If a student has a question about an assignment, they should contact the specific teacher about the assignment.
If the student is needing additional support beyond a quick question, each BMS teacher has weekly office hours during their planning period on Thursdays. Office hours will be conducted via Zoom. Links will be provided by the teacher via their remote learning platform. With additional questions about office hours, please contact the individual teacher.
Middle School Instructional Specialists from the District Office are providing additional Office Hours to support students who are working from home due to COVID-19. The following link will provide a form for students to complete.
ELA Office Hours: Each Monday from 9:00-10:00am and Wednesday from 3:30-4:30pm
Math Office Hours: Each Monday from 3:30-4:30pm and Thursday from 8:00-9:00am
Science Office Hours: Each Monday from 3:30-4:30pm and Thursday from 8:00-9:00am
Social Studies Office Hours: Each Wednesday from 3:00-4:00pm and Friday from 9:00-10:00am
Q: How do students access Schoology?
A: Students can access Schoology through their Clever portal. See below for directions on how to access Clever.
Q: How do students access Clever?
A: To access Clever, use the link posted at the top of the school’s website.
Students will sign-in using their RCS email address and password. Their RCS email address is their computer username followed by @student.rcschools.net (ex. firstname.lastname@example.org). Student passwords are their 7-digit lunch number/State ID. Students can request this information from their advisory teacher.
Q: What if students do not know their password?
A: Students can reset their password using the Single-Service Password Reset link under the “Students” tab of the BMS webpage. Please note that Skyward passwords can be different from a student’s computer/Clever/Office 365 password. Students/Parents needing assistance with a Skyward password will need to contact Erinn Todd at email@example.com.
If students receive an error message during this process, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you could include a screenshot of the error message in the email, it would help to expedite the troubleshooting process.
